MaXplosion

Late last week, Capcom's mobile department quietly released a new game on the iPhone App Store called MaXplosion...which, yes, looked like a ridiculously blatant copy of Twisted Pixel's 'Splosion Man for Xbox Live Arcade. Now Twisted Pixel CEO Michael Wilford says his company won't go so far as to try to beat Capcom in a legal battle, but he's no less dismayed by the flagrant clone.

"We're definitely not going to pursue legal action," Wilford said to Joystiq. "While I think the similarities are pretty nauseating, we're too small to take on a company like Capcom. That, and we owe them one for inventing Mega Man, so we'll let them slide."

Still, Wilford couldn't help but add a zinger: "We just need to keep our heads down making the next thing so that Capcom has something to steal next year." When MaXplosion was first released, Wilford took to Twitter to express his displeasure, writing, "Borrowing is great. Hell, we do it all the time. But that game is a complete theft." He also revealed to Joystiq the irony that they originally went to Capcom with their idea for 'Spolsion Man, but were turned down by the publisher.
