The official Japan site for Yakuza has a countdown on display as this is being written, but the big news isn't going to be all that applicable to American audiences -- not yet, anyway. According to this week's Famitsu magazine, the announcement is Ryu ga Gotoku Mobile, a cell-phone game of some sort that hooks up with Japanese social-networking site Gree. There aren't many gameplay details yet, but it apparently is a game of some sort, at least -- according to early reports, you'll be able to trade weapons between the mobile game and Of The End on your PS3. More as it comes.
In this week's spate of Japanese game mags, Sega announced that Ryu ga Gotoku Of The End -- Toshihiro Nagoshi's zombie game set in the Yakuza universe -- will be hitting PlayStation 3 store shelves March 17 in Japan. That's a mere two days after Yakuza 4, the most recent game in the series, is due out in the US. Nagoshi's team works fast.
