Whether or not that canceled announcement was the Gears of War Kinect game is unclear. However, a new report has surfaced claiming that the game is real and is an on-rails shooter. Kotaku was provided with the details and the image above from a demo of the game which reuses some of the content from Gears of War 2. Last month, an Epic Games trademark surfaced for something called Gears of War: Exile. That could very well be any number of things unrelated to a Gears Kinect game. It does make you wonder, though, if that's what we were supposed to hear about back in December.
Last November, we heard a rumor that a Gears of War game for Kinect was to be unveiled at the Spike TV Video Game Awards in December. A Gears of War announcement was planned for the show, but Microsoft decided to cancel the announcement prior to the event.
