The popular perception of Japanese gaming is one where the arcade scene continues to thrive in deference to its decline around the world. A recent online survey (via Arcade Heroes) suggests that fewer Japanese people play games in arcades than one might expect.

The survey was conducted by MyVoice over four days last month. 11,830 people from a variety of age groups responded, most of them female (54% vs 46%).
