T-Mobile USA and Nokia Siemens Networks announced yesterday that mobile broadband based on HSPA (High-Speed Packet Access) will in the near future be able to offer speeds of more than 650Mbit/sec.
The tech behind this is called Long Term HSPA Evolution and should be ready for a commercial roll-out by 2013. In order to boost the download speeds to this peak, both companies suggested combining up to eight channels into one data link and in that process are able to provide peak data rates of up to 672Mbit/sec.
