While you do see robots occasionally participate in sports, we all know that it's still a work in progress. Now the smart folks over at Tokyo University's ISI Lab have attempted to come up with something cool in the Athlete Robot. This robot is capable of jumping 50cm into the air, which is rather impressive for a robot that is about 125cm tall and weighs 10kg. Aside from that, thanks to its elastic properties, it can also land softly from a 1 meter drop, something that is a big problem for conventional geared robots.
