A recent Nielsen survey found that 31 percent of children ages 6 to 12 wanted an iPad within the next six months, while 29 percent wanted an iPod Touch. Both lead the Nintendo DS, which lead all traditional consoles with 25 percent. A survey of teens (age 13+) came up with similar results; 18 percent of those polled said they want an iPad. The DS fell quite a bit with that age group though, polling at 8 percent. Instead, the Nintendo Wii was the top traditional console at 15 percent.
With the Christmas shopping season officially set to begin in the next week, the iPad and the iPod Touch are two of the hottest gadgets on kid's wishlists (via the Nielsen Blog).
